DWTS Week 1: Marissa and Tony - Cha Cha Cha (Low, Flo-Rida)

People may think that Marissa’s Tony award for her performance in Hairspray would give her an unfair advantage. But she has learned that “everything [she’s] ever done is not dancing.” Tony thinks Marissa’s challenge is to contain the energy to specific parts of her body during the dance.

Well, Marissa’s Cha Cha to the song Low fit the song perfectly. Lots of poses for her unbeatable facial expressions. She was smiling the whole way through. Her electric personality was so dynamic, the crowd gave Marissa a standing applause. That ultimately became a detriment in her score.

The judges loved the performance and character but did not like that actual Cha Cha. There weren’t much Cha Cha. Eighty percent of her routine was hip-hop or poses or just goofing off. Len challenge Tony to give her more actual dance content.

  • Performance: 5/5
  • Footwork/Posture: 2/5
  • Judges: 6 6 6 (18)
